Esteem’s programs teach students how to set (and maintain) strong, healthy, physical, and emotional boundaries—giving them the skills they need to better navigate their social world while holding strong to their personal values. Our two most popular trainings are A Girl’s Best Defense, and Esteem for Boys.
A Girl’s Best Defense: Self-Defense Workshop for Teen Girls
- Build communication skills and self-Esteem to set effective boundaries
- Master physical self-defense techniques
- Deliver full-force blows to equipment or padded instructor
- May include opportunity to participate in simulated assaults with padded “assailant”
Esteem for Boys: Self-Defense Workshop for Teen Boys
- Gain conflict resolution skills and techniques for de-escalating altercations
- Understand what constitutes unwelcome attention and sexual harassment
- Deliver full-force blows to equipment or padded instructor
- Learn how to be an active ally to others
Assertiveness Training for Girls
- Determine personal comfort zones and set boundaries that stick
- Distinguish among passive, assertive and aggressive behavior
- Learn about the importance of voice control and body language when dealing with acquaintances and strangers who do not respect personal or professional boundaries
